Watering
Radishes thrive in well-drained soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, ensuring it stays evenly damp. Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Allow excess water to drain away to prevent waterlogging, which can cause radishes to become pithy or split.
Harvesting
When harvesting radishes, wait until they have reached the desired size, typically around 1 to 2 inches in diameter for most varieties. Gently loosen the soil around the radish with your hands or a garden fork to ease its removal. Grasp the radish near the base and pull it gently upward while twisting to loosen it from the soil. Alternatively, use a garden trowel to carefully lift the radish from the ground. Trim any roots and damaged foliage, leaving only the clean, firm radish bulb.
Culinary/ Uses
Radishes are versatile vegetables commonly used in culinary dishes. Enjoy them raw in salads, pickled for a tangy snack, or cooked by roasting or sautéing. Their crisp texture and peppery flavor make them a popular ingredient in various cuisines.
